UK pubs warn of meltdown

Pub tenants have warned of a meltdown in their industry with 27 pubs closing each week amid falling demand from drinkers.

MPs were told on Tuesday that it was hard for tenanted landlords to survive in the current climate because of rigorous conditions in their contracts – such as their obligation to buy their drink from pub operators.
