US consumer sentiment falls unexpectedly

Consumer sentiment and trade data released on Friday sparked concerns that the US economic recovery is likely to stagnate in the coming quarter.

Hopes for a consumer spending led recovery were dealt a blow on Friday when Americans’ outlook fell unexpectedly in November to its lowest level since August, as workers struggle with a slackening labour market. Consumers’ views soured on both the current economic environment and its future recovery.
