Wisconsin gains unlikely profile as Clinton battles to stem losses

For the first time in modern history, the small Midwest state of Wisconsin will play a pivotal role in US presidential elections when it goes to the polls next Tuesday in the latest phase of the battle for the Democratic nomination.

Hillary Clinton, who needs to resurrect her campaign after a string of defeats to Barack Obama since "Super Tuesday", travels to Madison, Wisconsin, today and will remain there almost continuously until Tuesday.
