London’s rise concentrates minds in US

The power shift from New York to London in the investment banking and trading business continued this week as Merrill Lynch reorganised its top ranks and handed additional power to non-US based executives.

The move came after Lehman Brothers made the historic decision to base the head of its powerful fixed income division in London and Goldman Sachs placed its chief administrative officer in the City.
