Homes across states can open door to taxman

Owning homes in several states can be a luxury. If you are not careful, however, it can also be a tax headache.

If you have a home you live in consistently, and use your other residences only occasionally, the consequences will likely be minimal. The worst outcome would be that your heirs could face probate proceedings in every state in which you own real property, with associated fees and delays in settling the estate.
