Clinton nominated secretary of state

US President-elect Barack Obama unveiled members of his national security team on Monday morning.

Former rival Hillary Clinton was nominated secretary of state; Robert Gates will remain defence secretary; James Jones was selected as national security adviser; and Janet Napolitano homeland security secretary. Mr Obama also announced Eric Holder as his pick for attorney general and Susan Rice was nominated as the next ambassador to the UN.
