US revenue service gets tougher on multinational manoeuvres to avoid tax

The US government is stepping up its fight with multinationals accused of avoiding taxes by manipulating tax rules on internal transactions.

Litigation between companies and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) over transfer pricing - the method of allocating profits for tax purposes between different part of a group - is likely to escalate this year, according to Tax Planning International Transfer Pricing, a journal.
