Brown ‘leading world’ out of crisis

Gordon Brown claimed on Tuesday to be “leading the world” in mapping a route out of the economic crisis, arguing that other nations would soon follow Britain’s lead in launching fiscal stimulus packages to provide a jolt to the economy.

Having spent much of his career arguing for “prudence”, the prime minister is now billing himself as the high priest of anti-recessionary deficit spending, preparing the ground for a substantial giveaway in this month’s pre-Budget report.
