Gulf tycoon set to buy English football club

Sulaiman al-Fahim, the Abu Dhabi-based businessman, has reached a provisional agreement to buy Portsmouth football club, the latest sale of an English Premier League club to an international buyer.

The move follows months of speculation that Alexandre Gaydamak, Portsmouth’s Franco-Russian owner, was looking to offload the club after spending more than £30m ($48m) to acquire full control in 2006.
