Diversity cushions Investec from turmoil

Recurring revenue and geographic diversity are cushioning Investec, the South African investment bank, from the full impact of the financial crisis and it expects to report first-half operating profits in line with last year’s results.

The company said its South African and UK divisions, which together account for more than 90 per cent of revenue, expected to report increased profits. Its Australian profits would be down for the half that ends on September 30.
