Clear Channel to slash 9% of workforce

Clear Channel on Tuesday said it would cut about 9 per cent of its global workforce, or 1,850 staff, as part of a restructuring of the radio and outdoor advertising company.

The cuts at the group will save the company about $350m, Mark Mays, chief executive of Clear Channel, told the Financial Times, and come as the economic downturn has exacerbated a steep fall in advertising.
