Hedge fund investment returns continued to recover in July from a patch of poor performance in April and May but, seven months into the year, they are still only in low single digit territory, according to data providers.

Hennessee Group said that hedge funds tracked in its composite index returned 2.35 per cent last month, up 3.61 per cent in the year to the end of July.
