Jarvis Cocker has devised a new show to celebrate the indie record label Rough Trade's 30th birthday. It involves rock songs interspersed with mini-lectures, complete with overhead projector, before climaxing with a disco - a bit like three years at university condensed into a single evening.
The former Pulp frontman dressed for the occasion. Beige jacket, tie, grey slacks, huge spectacles, beard - the beanpole Cocker looked like a lecturer from a 1970s campus novel.
