Moscow journalist's killing fuels free speech concerns

Russia was yesterday mourning the death of its most outspoken investigative journalist, as colleagues warned that her shooting dealt a severe blow to already restricted freedom of speech.

Anna Politkovskaya, 48, was found in the lift of her central Moscow apartment building with two fatal gunshot wounds on Saturday afternoon, a Makarov pistol dumped by her side.
