Lloyds investors urged to spurn Blank

An influential voting adviser is urging shareholders to abstain from the re-election of Sir Victor Blank as chairman of Lloyds Banking Group at the company’s annual meeting in Glasgow next week.

RiskMetrics, the proxy voting agency, is urging shareholders not to back Sir Victor, even though he has said he will step down from the group in 2010, after facing intense criticism for his part in encouraging Lloyds to rescue HBOS last year.
