Florida fund investors face losses

Investors in a state-run Florida investment pool that has frozen about $14bn of short-term assets face potential principal losses and further delays in access to their money, according to fund officials.

Officials last week halted redemptions on Florida’s Local Government Investment Pool after investors withdrew at least $13bn amid concerns over its exposure to securities backed by subprime mortgages.
