Psychologist coach who puts Barça stars on the couch

Frank Rijkaard is the coolest coach in football. Sprawled across a couch, with his long legs in brown boots slung over a coffee table, the Dutchman looks like he is in the chill-out lounge of a nightclub. Instead, we are in his office in the catacombs of Barcelona’s Camp Nou stadium. On Wednesday, Rijkaard’s Barça side should dispose of Schalke in the Champions League. Then they will probably meet Manchester United in the semi-finals.

The Dutchman is a born psychologist, who enjoys observing the personalities around him. He smokes cigarettes, downs soft drinks, and discusses football and several of his players.
