Jeffrey Eugenides, 47, was born in Detroit, Michigan. His first novel, The Virgin Suicides, was published in 1993, and filmed by Sofia Coppola in 1999. He won the Pulitzer Prize for his second book, Middlesex, in 2002. Eugenides now lives in New Jersey, where he is a professor of creative writing at Princeton University. His latest work, My Mistress’s Sparrow is Dead, is an edited collection of love stories.
