UK envoy to Uzbekistan removed ‘for speaking out'

The British government was on Friday embroiled in a dispute over its counter-terrorist policy after one of its ambassadors claimed he had lost his post for publicly criticising intelligence allegedly obtained under torture.

The Foreign Office justified the removal of Craig Murray from his post as UK ambassador to Uzbekistan on “operational grounds”.
