Labour lays down law on employment

Trade unions were on Friday told to forget any prospect of overturning Britain’s employment laws, ahead of a meeting next week to prepare Labour’s next election manifesto.

Pat McFadden, business minister and chairman of Labour’s national policy forum, told union leaders that policies that took Britain back to the 1970s or 1980s in terms of employment law were off the table.
