House prices: a bumpier ride lies ahead

T wo years ago, in an article on this page, we criticised the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development and the International Monetary Fund for arguing that UK house prices were overvalued by 30 per cent or even more in 2004-05.

As the market turns downwards, how does that assessment stand up? And what will happen to house prices in the next year?
