US deflation fears knock dollar

The dollar fell on Wednesday after data showing a record drop in US inflation and a further contraction in home building exacerbated fears that the world’s largest economy could suffer a bout of deflation.

US consumer price inflation dropped 1 per cent in October, the largest monthly decline since records began.
