While many in the Arab world could barely restrain their glee at Barack Obama’s victory in US presidential elections, analysts said some powerful interests in Iraq were feeling less than euphoric at the prospect of a Democrat in the White House.

Hoshyar Zebari, the Iraqi foreign minister who is a Kurd, warned that the incoming US president would be in line for “a reality check”.
