Ryanair defends ‘screenscraper’ cancellations

Ryanair, the Dublin-based no-frills airline, has justified cancelling about 500 tickets bought by passengers using other websites, saying these internet travel agents were inflating the real cost of buying its budget tickets.

In response to an inquiry from the European Commission, Ryanair, which models itself as the consumer champion of the aviation industry, said that at least four websites had breached its copyright by illegally accessing the Ryanair website.
