Jakarta suspends anti-graft officials

Indonesia’s president suspended two of the acting chairmen of the country’s anti-corruption commission on Wednesday after police named them as criminal suspects. He then called for parliament to suspend work on a bill that would severely erode the agency’s powers.

Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, who was re-elected to a second term in July, has made the fight against corruption a cornerstone of his platform.
