Defra extends farms’ protection zone

Government vets on Monday said they had identified further turkeys infected by the lethal H5N1 bird flu virus among poultry culled in Norfolk in recent days.

The department for environment, food and rural affairs (Defra) said tests had revealed the virus in turkeys that appeared healthy, indicating that the infection was in its early stages.
