Beijing warns on meetings with Dalai Lama

China’s foreign minister issued a blunt warning at the weekend to other countries against meeting the Dalai Lama, the exiled Tibetan leader, which he said would aid “separatist activities” in China.

Amid growing signs of tension in Tibetan regions ahead of a period of sensitive anniversaries, Yang Jiechi said the Dalai Lama was still trying to split Tibet from the rest of China.
