Abramovich backs Rosneft IPO

Roman Abramovich, Russia’s richest oligarch and owner of Chelsea Football Club, has thrown his support behind the controversial initial public offering of Rosneft, giving a boost to the Russian oil company’s efforts to attract heavyweight investors.

Mr Abramovich placed a bid for a stake earlier this week, according to people familiar with the details. The bid is likely to be worth several hundreds of millions of dollars.
