Rentokil soars after update boosts confidence

Rentokil Initial shares on Friday jumped to their highest level since last September, after a first-quarter trading update showed the company’s cash generation tripled during the past year while pre-tax losses dropped to their slowest rate of decline since 2007.

Alan Brown, chief executive, said the numbers should “put to bed” investor fears about the washrooms-to-pest control business.
