Salmond defends his role in Trump resort

Alex Salmond gave a doughty defence of his role in the Scottish government’s handling of a controversial plan by Donald Trump to build a £1bn ($1.96bn) golfing resort near Aberdeen.

Looking relaxed and assured, the first minister went before a committee of MSPs following the Scottish government’s decision last month to “call in” the application after it had been unexpectedly rejected by a committee of Aberdeenshire Council.
