United gains funding to speed exit from bankruptcy

United Airlines, the second-biggest US carrier, said four lenders had increased their proposals for bankruptcy exit financing by $500m to $3bn - a move that could clear the way for the airline to exit Chapter 11 after three years of restructuring.

The increased investment will boost United, whose attempt to exit bankruptcy this year has languished due to record fuel prices.
