D Postbank opts for rights offer over state aid

Deutsche Postbank needs at least €1bn in fresh capital, its owners admitted on Monday as the bank revealed that a €364m ($457m) exposure to Lehman Brothers had resulted in its first quarterly loss since its stock market listing four years ago.

Postbank is the first of Germany’s private sector banks to seek capital since the bankruptcy of Lehman aggravated the global financial crisis last month.
