BA and Qantas abandon talks

British Airways and Australia’s Qantas on Thursday abandoned their ambitious plan to create a £4bn (€4.2bn) global carrier, saying they had failed to agree “over the key terms of a merger”.

After nearly five months of negotiations, the two groups were unable to agree on the share exchange ratio that each airline would command in a dual-listed structure, sources close to BA said.
