Airbus in unknown territory

Tom Enders, Airbus chief executive, offered to bet a magnum of champagne last September to overcome reporters’ scepticism about the troubled aircraft-maker’s ability to meet its latest revised target for A380 superjumbo deliveries during 2008.

There were no takers, and Airbus made it with just a day to spare, as a fourth A380 for Emirates left the Hamburg delivery centre on December 30.
