Bank bond investors fear more rescues

Officials from the Treasury and Bank of England have quietly met leading UK banks and investment funds this week amid growing fears that investors stand to lose billions of pounds if any more banks are nationalised.

The meeting, which also included Financial Services Authority representatives, was held on Tuesday in the Canary Wharf offices of law firm Clifford Chance, the day after the government in effect lifted its stake in RBS to 70 per cent.
