DMGT to show sharp decline as ad market falters

Daily Mail and General Trust has warned that first-half profits will show a substantial year-on-year fall, amid weak advertising markets, as it unveiled a doubling of its headcount reduction.

The newspaper owner said 1,000 jobs would go this year at its regional arm, Northcliffe, which is double the number outlined in November. Some of the cuts have already been made.
