NY Times reaches deal with Boston unions

The New York Times and the largest labour union of its Boston Globe subsidiary have removed a significant obstacle to the sale of the Globe by reaching a settlement late on Tuesday to achieve $10m in cost savings.

The settlement includes a salary cut of 5.94 per cent and other benefit reductions. Union members will vote on the new cuts in July.
