Irma: Grocery’s idea bears fruit

When Alfred Josefsen, managing director of Irma, first arrived at the Copenhagen-based grocery chain, the workforce was anything but happy.

Employee motivation was low and staff members were frequently leaving to go to work for other companies. “It was a big crisis and, for the first couple of years we had to do a huge turnaround,” says Mr Josefsen.
