Yemen’s long-time president has given his strongest warning yet to rebels in the northern part of the country, saying the real war against them was only just beginning and that previous offensives were nothing more than training.

“We are about to crush the terrorism,” Ali Abdullah Saleh said on Saturday. “There will be no compromise or cease-fire until we are finished.”
