Ford considers partial sale of Mazda stake

As America’s hapless car companies have piled up tens of billions of dollars in losses, a once-struggling Japanese producer has rebounded under an unlikely steward: Detroit’s own Ford Motor.

Questions now hang over Ford’s successful relationship with Mazda, Japan’s sixth-largest carmaker, as it seeks to raise cash by offloading part of its one-third stake in the Hiroshima-based group.
