Junk-food ban shows ambivalent attitude to business

The Tories pledged to ban the marketing of junk food to children on Monday, in a vote that reflected the party conference’s surprisingly ambivalent stance towards business.

Once seen as its natural home, the Conservatives now appear unsure whether to embrace or repulse the forces of ­capitalism.
