Almost 65 years after his father attempted to assassinate Adolf Hitler, Franz Ludwig von Stauffenberg is hoping to deal a fatal blow to plans to reform the European Union.

The lawyer and former member of the German and European parliaments is one of several complainants in a landmark case due to begin in Germany’s highest court on Tuesday that will consider whether the EU Lisbon reform treaty is constitutional.
