In Gulliver's Travels, the classic Jonathan Swift novel, there is a land where a breed of intelligent horses, called the Houyhnhmns, clash with a savage species called the Yahoos.

According to Bruce Fein, a prominent conservative lawyer and an official under the presidency of Ronald Reagan, the parable mirrors the civil war about to erupt within the Republican party after its landslide election defeat on Tuesday.
