Cameron attacks ‘failure’ of VAT cut

David Cameron on Friday denounced the government’s 2.5 per cent cut in value added tax as “an unbelievable and expensive failure”, citing figures suggesting a grim festive season on the high street.

The Conservative leader sharpened his attack on the government’s economic policies, arguing that the focus should be on shoring up lending to businesses in-stead of attempting to bolster consumer demand.
