At a time when millions of Britons are not saving enough for retirement, too many are worsening their own pension crises by losing track of, or not claiming, entitlements.

An estimated £3bn of occupational or personal pensions are failing to reach their retired beneficiaries, according to the Unclaimed Assets Register, a financial tracing service. Some put the unclaimed total at up to £20bn.
