Fraud investigators are probing a suspected £80m ($132m) pyramid investment scam alleged to have claimed prominent business people, sports stars and celebrities among its victims.

City of London police say they have met hundreds of targets of the scam – some of whom still do not believe they have been defrauded – in an effort to persuade them to make statements and compensation claims.
