Freedberg amid a Liffe crisis

As Hugh Freedberg, the chief executive of Liffe, sits in his office in London's Cannon Street this week, he confesses that his staff are feeling rather "emotional".

If Mr Freedberg is to be believed, the coming weeks will produce a crunch point, both for Liffe - the UK-based derivatives platform owned by Euronext - and for the City's role as Europe's derivatives capital.
