Turmoil pushes oil down 4%

Oil prices fell 4 per cent to their lowest in seven months on Tuesday amid worries that the turmoil on Wall Street would increase the global economic slowdown.

The fears about lower commodities demand pushed the Reuters-Jefferies CRB index, a benchmark for raw materials prices, to its lowest since January and down more than 26 per cent from July’s record high.
