Asset price fall set to hit legacy income

Charities can expect their income from legacies to decline by up to £350m as bequests are eroded by sharp falls in asset prices and a frozen housing market, say experts in the field.

Legacy income soared to about £2bn in 2007, according to Legacy Foresight, a specialist company that advises charities, boosted by house price rises and a marked increase in the numbers making posthumous donations.
