Philips cuts chip forecasts

Philips, the Dutch electronics company, reduced the sales growth forecast for its semiconductor business on Friday just days after the head of the division unexpectedly resigned.

Scott McGregor, who will leave the company on January 1 next year to return home to the US, said that he expected sales to rise 27 per cent in the third quarter compared to the same period last year, but warned sequential sales growth would be flat.
